Major DELTAROLL Update! (Ver 3.0)


A Major Update To DELTAROLL!

Hey all, I've been working on DELTAROLL for the last few months, and am excited to show you the fruits of my labor. There's been a number of small improvements, changes, and additions, but by far the biggest is the updated attack system. The old attack and damage roll system was mostly just copied from other RPGs, and has been replaced with a new system that is faster and more exciting.

Converting Old Characters:
Base DF for both Humans and Monsters is now 0. Armor gives 1 less DF. Done! Weapons still deal the same amount of damage!

Player's Guide Changes:

  • New cover art (drawn by a player in one of my games).
  • A new system for attacking. There is no need to roll to hit, instead you hit automatically, with a Crit occurring if you get the maximum value, and a Miss occurring if you get the minimum value on the first die. DF is now subtracted from damage.
  • Various wording corrections to account for the above change.
  • Various balance changes to account for the above changes.
  • The "Lingering" Style has a new effect. I didn't like the old one and it was annoying to track.
  • Clarified SPELLs cannot phase through walls.
  • Advantage and Disadvantage is now a mechanic for attacks, as the old penalty system would no longer work.
  • New rules for effects occurring at the same added to the end of the Player's Guide.
  • Various other minor corrections.

GM's Guide Changes:

  • Updated example enemies and ITEMs to account for the new attack system.
  • A new page describing alternate SAVE systems for if you go through a lot or very little content per session.
  • Changed the math of how Power is calculated, which also helps fix economy issues at high LV (stuff was too expensive compared to D$ earned).
  • Weapons are now 5 D$ cheaper compared to armor. (Armor is always useful. Weapons are not.)
  • The Sleep status is now lost at a rate of 5x damage taken instead of 2x, making it much easier to shake.
  • Various other minor corrections.

Thank you for following this project! I am strongly considering taking one of the chapters for my home game and cleaning it up to share as inspiration - but that's likely some time away if it does occur.
